Next Bond Villian?

ImageI have always been a fan of the bond franchise but even more so since the reboot with Casino Royale in 2006.  The clincher in some of the bond movies as to whether or not they are successful is the villain, are they memorable? Of course there are the villains with notable physical abnormalities such as Jaws or Tee-Hee but I think the better villains are the ones that make an impact without using their appearance.  The ones I’m thinking of are the likes of Red Grant (From Russia With Love) and Le Chiffre (Casino Royale).  One actor that I could see making an impact on this series would be Tom Hardy. A fresh British actor for a British series that is gaining momentum again, I think Hardy would be the perfect choice for the role of the next big Bond Villain.

Tom Hardy in Warrior

Tom Hardy has gone from strength to strength in recent years with performances as many different characters in films such as Lawless, The Dark Knight and Warrior.  He has shown his physical strength in pictures like Warrior but even better he has shown how menacing he can be in others.  I think it would be really interesting to have him play a young British villain alongside Daniel Craig almost like Gustav Graves in Die Another Day but only much better.  I could see them building a story between Craig and Hardy of a battle of wits throughout the film always building towards a final desperate physical face-off between the pair.  I think that Tom Hardy would be an epic villain helping the franchise to maintain its sophisticated feel and more mature vibe that it has adopted in recent years.
